Joe Henderson Elementary August Closed Board Meeting

Call Meeting to Order

  • Introductions of new/existing board members: Lynsey, Kiristen, Kellye, Rebecca, Emma, Cathy, Many, Brieanne, Kim, Wendy, Amy

Board Reports

  • President – Lynsey Ghavimi

    • Open communication- Please text, call or email. Ask questions!

  • Vice President –  Kim Gordon

    • Sign up genius getting prepared for the ice cream social on Aug. 15th

  • Principal – Catherine Bellanti

    • Art docent email is getting kicked back

    • STEAM Wheel- looking at funding by elementary PTG’s and district.. more to be figured out

    • Welcoming schools committee with the JHE staff. Amy Love will be supporting this.

    • School Site Council- want to add more parents to the meetings on Thursdays once per month

  • Teachers – Mandy Esteban & Kelly Hughes

    • Getting classrooms ready to start school

    • District professional development days Thursday and Friday of this week before school starts

  • Treasurer – Emma Petrouski

    • taxes are filed

  • Fundraising – Jamie Straub and Marisol Carranz

    • Dates to be added under new business for the 2025-2026 PTG calendar

  • Community Events – Kiristen Roland and Samantha Nehrbas

    • Ice Cream Social Aug. 15th 6-7:30 pm 

    • Adding calendar items during new business 

  • Diversity & Inclusion – Amy Love

    • Ms. Bellanti will be creating a staff committee and will loop in Amy

  • Art Docent Coordinator – Wendy Corado

    • Wendy will be working in the art room to get it prepared to the year 

  • Hospitality – Kellye Dutro

    • Kellye will be talking with the last hospitality board member. Looking at supplies that we currently have. The office has keys to the PTG sheds

    • Coffee for the first day of school for parents @ 8am

  • Secretary – Rebecca Scherer

    • Taking notes and sending out minutes in a timely manner

  • Public Relations – Brieanne Marshall

    • Brieanne has a packet for new roles and new board members!

    • Brieanne will be adding social media updates for the first day coffee and ice cream social soon

    • Possible new website with a one stop shop for parents

    • Hound store is coming too for the beginning of the year

  • Parliamentarian – John Petrouski

    • Bylaws will be sent out and printed out at next PTG meeting

Announcements/Comments

  • PTG shirts? - Brieanne will see what we have and possibly order more

Old Business

  • Ms. Bellanti spoke about the STEAM Wheel and possible funding by PTG’s. Lynsey will talk with other PTG presidents 

  • Ice cream social needs 6 cleared volunteers to work during the event. Anyone can help clean up once the event is over.

  •  Kim will look into how fast the clearance paperwork will take.

New Business

25-26 PTG Calendar Events for this year

  • Ice cream social- Friday Aug. 15 6-7:30 pm set up starting at 5 pm

  • Start with Hello week- Week of September 15th

  • Fun Run- starting Monday 9/29 and the actual run will be Friday 10/10

  • Joechella- Saturday Oct 18th 1-5pm set up starting at 11

  • Ruby Bridges walk to school- Friday November 14th 

  • Ofrenda in the Hallway or in the MPR- starting the week of November 27th

  • Movie night & Possible Book fair- Friday Dec. 12th in the MPR

  • International Art Night- Thursday Feb. 26th

  • Book fair in March- Possibly starting Monday March 9th 

  • STEAM night?

  • Open House and Hound Gallery- Thursday April 30th 

  • Teacher Appreciation week- May 4th-9th

  • Auction- TBD on formal auction vs. the Lucca type less formal auction
